Established in 1988, Pasticceria Papa is an institution in Sydney’s Inner West. Inside, you’ll find a sprawling display of Italian cakes, biscuits, bon bons and breads in all flavours, shapes and sizes. Be sure to try the ricotta cheesecake – a Pasticceria Papa speciality – but be prepared to wait, as queues run out the door during busy hours.
KOI Dessert Kitchen
Shop 3 62-66 Blaxland St, Ryde

KOI Dessert Kitchen is the brainchild of ex-Masterchef contestant Reynold Poernomo, his mother Ike Malada, and his brothers Ronald and Arnold. Inspired by the family’s Indonesian heritage, KOI’s inventive staples include mango yuzu made with mango mousse, yuzu curd and almond sable; and the coconut kalamansi, featuring coconut mousse, white cheese, kalamansi (a Filipino lime) curd and chocolate sable. The space also functions as a cooking school, so you can try your hand at making some of KOI’s sweet treats for yourself in the masterclass kitchen.

12-Micron is an Australian-inspired restaurant and dessert bar run by Melbourne pastry aficionado Darren Purchese. Choose from a three-course or five-course dessert degustation, including favourites like the banana mousse yoghurt, with burnt cream, granola and macadamia; pavlova with passionfruit, riberry and white chocolate; and the impressive milk chocolate and honeycomb sphere with pear and caramel.
Tella Balls Dessert Bar
5/370 New Canterbury Rd, Dulwich Hill
Hours: Monday to Sunday 11am – 11pm
Self-described as “A contemporary dessert bar that is dedicated to desserts and desserts only”, Tella Balls in Dulwich Hill is serious about the sweet stuff. This spot is famous for its soft and fluffy Nutella-filled donuts, which feature on many a dessert lovers’ Instagram feeds. Alongside the signature donuts, you’ll find cronuts, ice cream, crepes and waffles – all dipped, drizzled and injected with choc-hazelnut goodness.
6HEAD

Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention our own desserts, which make the perfect end to your meal at 6HEAD. Choose from delectable creations like our signature 6HEAD sticky bun donut with, crème anglaise, macerated fig, black currant, raspberry and strawberry powder; chocolate and peanut butter torte with dark chocolate ganache, golden syrup honeycomb, caramelised bananas and vanilla gelato; or creamy panna cotta with coconut and lime, Vermouth burnt confit peach, peach puree and pistachio brittle.
